The Dentist is in the Details

HISTORY

A mobile dental clinic evolves from innovative dentistry. And good intentions. Dental Access Mobile Clinics was born from an effort to offer care to disadvantaged children. Dr. John E. Reese III saw a need to provide quality on-site dental services to schoolchildren in low-income areas, many of whom were covered by Medicaid but still didn’t have a regular dentist or receive basic dental care.

As Dr. Reese started his search to find the perfect "mobile dental office,” he found that the few mobile clinics available were all lacking in one way or another. He came to the conclusion that these dental vans, while functional, were obviously not designed by a dentist. Some had desirable features but lacked basic necessities. Others had the basic dental necessities but did not consider the actual practice of dentistry in their design. Not willing to settle for anything short of perfection, Dr. Reese approached the industry leader in specialty transportation vehicles with the idea of a joint venture. The rest is history.

Dental Access Mobile Clinics is a Limited Liability Corporation founded by Dr. John E. Reese, III. Dr. Reese is a native of Columbia, South Carolina. He received his B.S. in Biology from the Citadel in 1984, and his Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston in 1988. Dr. Reese then served four years on active duty as a General Dentist in the United States Air Force before settling in Rock Hill with his family in 1992. In 2001, Dr. Reese sold his brick and mortar practice to concentrate on expanding his mobile dental practice, Dental Access Carolina, which currently operates in more than 200 schools across multiple counties in SC. They also treat patients at a variety of other locations including businesses, behavioral health facilities, and public housing communities. More information regarding his mobile dental practice can be found at dentalaccesscarolina.com. He moved to Charleston in 2010 to become an adjunct clinical professor at the Medical University of South Carolina, College of Dental Medicine. Together with his wife, Beverly Gantt Reese, Dr. Reese has four sons: Danny, John IV, Robbie and James.
